Distractions are everywhere. Avoiding distractions is a key practice to becoming productive than others, and also it increases awareness about the surroundings. In simple words, by avoiding or eliminating the distractions, you will become more productive and invincible. Distractions are out there where you look up.
In this fast pace and on tune notification world, we get distracted so easily, and in common sense realm, it is hard to eliminate distractions, we just can avoid for the short-term period. Every single person who works for a living is getting interrupted 50 to 60 times per day, and about 80% of these interruptions are unimportant. There are some normal and some are the uncanny tactics that we will cover in just a while, but first, you should understand what is distractions and what types are there.

Causes that occurred by the internal factors of the human body like emotions, sub-conscious garbage, and malicious thoughts called internal distractions. It is easy to understand but it’s hard to eliminate from its roots. As a Chinese proverb, cut up grass by the root, and it will sprout no more.

Causes that occurred by the surrounding that covers you like the walls, lighting, companions, and your desk. These all are primary factors that distract you from your most important work, called External distractions. We can easily avoid or conquer them

As we all know there are two types of distraction: Internal distractions and External distractions. First thing first, you should understand what distract you. Is it your mobile? Is it your thought about your ex-girlfriend? Is it lighting of the workplace? Is it anxiety? You should tell yourself what distracts you.
There are lots of causes of distractions from internal to external, boredom to the temperature of the room. Let’s drill down the most common internal and external causes with its solutions.
- Boredom – Find reasons which satisfy you for taking your work and wither boredom.
- Personal problems and Worries – Talk with your friends or companions.

These will block specific websites or your whole connection for certain periods of time.
Tend to leave your charger at home, turning off/disabling your airport, or working in a public setting (where others can see your screen).
4. Sleep Enough
From Millionaires to College students, you should sleep enough to catch your goals. Distractions come to those who don’t sleep enough. It’s recommended to get at least 7-8 hours each night. In addition to helping you focus; sleep helps protect and strengthen your memory. Research shows that sleeping after learning can help with memory retention.
It’s important to get seven to eight hours of sleep so that you can experience all the sleep stages, and also well sleep contributes various things including creative thinking, long-term memory, and memory processing.
5. Be a Better Thinker
Better thinker those who think deeply about a particular thought, and comes up with a plan of action. External distraction is all about the lack of preparation that we already covered. Better thinkers always think about what is most important to them right now. Becoming a better thinker is so easy just follow these steps.

By doing physical activities including walking outside for a while, read books, meditate, playing physical games like sudoku, and more, helps you to become a less distracted person.
7. Working with a deadline.
Setting a deadline for your work, helps you to become speedy. Research shows that it takes an average of 90 minutes to accomplish anything worthwhile. Distractions begin with just one single thought but it ends up with lots of thoughts. If you are dedicated to your work and working with deadline then you can easily get out of the distractions.
8. Become early.
This is a very simple thing. Come up at your workplace before anyone else and start managing your to-do list. Start your work before anyone else helps you to achieve high productivity, and also, eliminate distractions. Because you start doing work early, and already managed your to-dos; you will achieve your target before anyone else.
9. Breathing Techniques
When you feel overwhelmed, you can bring back yourself to the present moment by focusing on your breath, also known as meditation. The 4-7-8 breathing technique, also known as “relaxing breath,” involves breathing in for 4 seconds, holding the breath for 7 seconds, and exhaling for 8 seconds.
10. Work in the same place every day.
If you always go to the same coffee shop or always sit at the same place on the couch to do your work, you’ll be more productive, more able to focus, and will be less distracted by the new environment you’re experiencing every time you have to do something.
11. Pinpoint Your Emotional Distractions
Remember, all distractions are not YouTube related or Facebook-related. Sometimes, you’re focused entirely on reading novels, and all of a sudden, your ex pops into your head. Game over.

12. Celebrate each accomplishment.
When you get something done from your list, celebrate that thing for a minute. Take a minute before you do something else to relax. You earned it. Use small celebrations for everyday things. When you finish your project for the workday, cross it off the list and pour a glass of wine. you’re done!
